Behind the Scenes of a Giovanni Boulera Shoot: What Is a Shooting Day Like?

In a photograph, everything can look as if it happened naturally. The way a scarf sits on the shoulder, the way it catches the light, the model's gaze... Yet behind those frames lies a day that starts early, is full of preparation, and is occasionally interrupted by laughter. This time, we invite you behind the scenes of a Giovanni Boulera shoot.

The shooting day begins before the shoot

Before photographing the collection, we select our models. We prepare the flow of the shooting day by considering the color, pattern, and usage style of each product. Details such as how a scarf will be tied or which headscarf will be paired with which outfit begin to take shape before arriving at the studio.

On the day of the shoot, we start at 6:00 AM. Our models wake up early and hit the road; our team also prepares the products and outfits to be used throughout the day. After arriving, we have breakfast together at 8:00 AM. With some chatting and final preparations, the energy in the studio gradually rises.

At 9:00 AM, makeup, hair, and outfit preparations begin. We put scarves and headscarves together with the outfits, checking how each piece will look in the frame. At 9:30 AM, the cameras turn on and the shoot begins.

Capturing the drape of silk

Silk gains a different appearance as it moves. Sometimes a step taken by the model reveals the fold of a scarf; sometimes a small adjustment in the direction of the light better showcases the colors of a pattern. That is why we photograph the same product from different angles and with different tying styles.

Our models also do their best to ensure the products are at the forefront. They readjust their poses so that a headscarf rests comfortably on the shoulder, the movement of a shawl is visible, or the pattern of a scarf is not obscured. For us, besides a beautiful photograph, it is just as important that you can understand how the product will look when you see it.

Of course, not everything goes according to plan. There are scarves that slip just as we are about to capture the perfect frame, unexpected movements, or little shooting accidents that make us all laugh. Part of what makes behind-the-scenes so special are these moments: we laugh for a few seconds, fix the product, and then continue the shoot from where we left off.

We take a short break for lunch. Afterward, the outfits, tying styles, and products change; the shoot lasts until 5:00 PM. At the end of the day, we are left with not only photographs but also a day we worked on together and remember with pleasure.

The behind-the-scenes footage we share here is also a small part of that day. While presenting Giovanni Boulera products to you, we wanted to show the preparation, care, and joy that take place outside the frame.
